How were other Place2Be hubs established?
The Place2Be has grown and developed over the years largely as a result of local people - ‘champions' - wanting to establish The Place2Be in their local area.
What is a local champion?
Certain key people have served as local champions, stimulating interest amongst local schools and making contact with potentially supportive organisations. A champion could be a Head teacher, an Educational Psychologist, a Community Police Office, a Parent, a School Govenor, or a Cluster Co-ordinator... basically anyone with a vested interest in the wellbeing of local children.
Who should you contact?
If you feel our services would make a difference to children and families in your area please contact Anna, The Place2Be's Development Manager on 020 7923 5506 or development@theplace2be.org.uk
What happens once the local champion makes contact?
Anna would work with the local champion to provide a more detailed briefing of our work in schools and to share the outcomes and benefits that schools gain from working in partnership with us. If interest is then generated from 6 or more local schools, we will then begin working with the Head teachers to establish the hub and a local Steering Group.
What is a Steering Group?
A local Steering Group is established involving participating Head teachers and other relevant partner agencies, which includes Education Authorities, Primary Care Trusts, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Social Services and the voluntary sector.
