The Place2Be offers a range of one-day workshops and accredited training courses specifically designed for teachers, teaching assistants, learning mentors and other key staff in primary schools. Workshops and courses can be run for individual schools or a cluster of schools in your local area.
What makes our courses unique
Our courses are designed to enhance whole-school approaches to children’s emotional wellbeing. They offer strategies for managing the everyday conflicts and issues that occur in every school. These strategies can be used by all school staff members and are designed to complement professional counselling and mental health services, rather than replace them. Our training can also help you to deliver Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) and other emotional literacy programmes.
How it worksParticipants are encouraged to think about their own experiences of childhood and to consider how this affects their work with pupils. Our training includes practice in active listening and creative communication and covers ways to help children find solutions to their own problems, gain self-awareness, manage their feelings, and develop a better understanding of social skills. Participants share their own experiences before practicing new skills in a safe environment with feedback from a qualified practitioner.
